We are so thrilled to have her and can't wait to gather again in song. Until then, we will continue to sing into our computers and compile harmony in bytes that will be posted both on Facebook and on our web site on the Music tab.

Miriam will help us continue to give labor a voice in the streets and in concert halls. She is an accomplished conductor, and she has a passion for singing songs of social significance. She has been involved in music her whole life and began singing in choirs and playing percussion at a young age. In 2011 she received her BA in music and peace and conflict studies from UC Berkeley, and in 2017 received her MM in choral conducting from the University of Washington. Outside of the Seattle Labor Chorus, Miriam works with a number of local ensembles including the Seattle Girls Choir Piccolini ensemble, Skyline Chorale, Foundation House Sound of Music Chorus, the Northminster Presbyterian Church Choir, Choir of the Sound, and the Seattle Youth Opera Project.
Seattle Labor Chorustag:seattlelaborchorus.org,2005:Post/60930082019-06-15T17:00:00-07:002021-02-15T02:57:53-08:00Changes

SING, EAT, DRINK, and MAKE MERRY–at the Seattle Labor Chorus’ annual Singalong on Saturday evening, March 8th, 7:00 to 9:30 p.m. And what a way to celebrate International Women’s Day! The event will take place at a new location with plentiful parking, the Phinney Ridge Lutheran Church, 7500 Greenwood Avenue, Seattle 98103. (this is a new location, if you have come in recent past years). The #5 bus serves Greenwood Avenue.
The Singalong features community singing of great songs of labor, peace, and justice, as well as some golden oldies (words projected on a screen for your reading comfort). You’ll also be able to nibble on homemade snacks and desserts, buy specialty soft drinks (no alcohol this time), get tickets for the Chorus’ famous quilt raffle, and bid in a silent auction (bring your checkbook or cash). Admission is by a suggested donation of $10 to $15 per adult or $5 for children, but no one will be turned away. Tickets are available from Chorus members or at the door.
The musical voice of labor in Seattle, the SLC, would love to have you join us for this evening of music and socializing. It’s our biggest fundraiser of each year, and we need your support and fellowship! For further information, contact Janet Stecher at (206) 524-7753, or at rebelvoz@aol.com.

Dear Seattle Labor Chorus supporter,
We hope you are enjoying our sparkling early winter. We did not do our usual Figgy Pudding Carolling Competition this year, but we will be hitting the streets of the University Farmer's Market instead, with our holiday parodies and favorite songs of peace and justice.

Saturday, December 14 at 11:30 am
Somewhere near the intersection of University Way and NE 50th
Look for the canopy!

Also breaking news:
The Seattle Labor Chorus is now part of the Puget Consumer's Co-op Scrip program. Scrip cards can be used at any PCC. Every time you use your card, SLC will earn 5 percent of the total amount of your purchase. These cards are "rechargeable", you can add money with a debit or credit card and continue to use them. This is any easy way to shop at a Co-op and support SLC at the same time! You can buy scrip cards at the Dec 14th gig, from any chorus member, or send an inquiry to Rebelvoz@aol.com. Thanks and hope to see you soon.

The chorus will illustrate with numerous short song selections woven throughout the program.

Mark has presented to diverse audiences on the West Coast, Midwest and Florida reaching thousands of people concerned about the American Dream being stolen from them and those they love. Every year we raffle off a beautiful quilt handmade by Susan Gordon, one of our members and our co-chair. Each square on the quilt comes from a union or pro-labor T-shirt. The winner of our 6th Annual Quilt Raffle was Lynn Marie Smith, who gave us "Part Time Worker" and "We Need a Contract" . She was thrilled. The chorus sang her a little song even though we woke her up in Detroit. We raised about $2200 to support the chorus and we thank all of you who took a chance on the quilt and supported our work. The drawing for the 2008 SLC quilt will take place on
